  Daniel Freeman will present an entertaining and informative preview of Tristan und Isolde prior to the Met: Live in HD performance of Tristan und Isolde on March 21, 2026.

  Using musical excerpts and fascinating historical anecdotes, Daniel Freeman will discuss the historical background, plot, and music of Tristan und Isolde.

  Dr. Freeman is a musicologist who has lectured on music at the University of Minnesota and has frequently appeared as a speaker at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

  Registration

  There is no admission fee for the Pre-Performance lecture. However, we encourage you to register your RSVP so that we know many people will attend.

  The preview lecture will be presented in Auditorium # 3 inside the Marcus West End Cinema. Marcus Cinema will open the main door to the theater at 9:30 am to allow lecture attendees to enter the theater. After the lecture ends at 10:30 am, please move to Auditorium # 2, for the Met: Live in HD performance which begins at 11:00 am.

  You will need to purchase tickets in advance from the Marcus West End Cinema for the Met: Live in HD performance. Click here to select and purchase your seat(s). This link should take you directly to seat selection for the 11:00 am performance on March 21.

  Or, if you happen to be in the neighborhood, you may purchase tickets in person at the Marcus West End Cinema box office.

  We expect heavy demand for tickets for this Met: Live in HD performance, so do purchase your tickets as soon as you can.

  The Marcus West End Cinema is located at 1625 West End Blvd, St. Louis Park, MN 55416 (map). From Minneapolis, go west on I-394. Beware of the construction on I-394: I-94 and I-394 in Minneapolis project - MnDOT.
